Opera Dog

You might remember that my dad is a conductor and my mom works at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. So we have a pretty musical family. Including me! I like to sing along when my mom plays high notes on the flute.

However, I don't think I come close to the talent of Duca the Dalmation.

Duca belongs to one of the opera/voice teachers at the JSOM, Carlos Montane', and she goes to school with him all the time. (It's against the rules, but, hey, Duca's a diva.) Duca will even stop by in my mom's office for a treat every now and then.

And did I mention? She even speaks German.

Here she is, the diva herself.

Yes Lenny, let us hear your talent too! Duca is fine, but we need some basso profundo, or whatever.

Oh, maybe you are more a tenor type. My muzzer says I am a tenor. How would she know!

Amazing talent!

Now. When do we get to hear you and your foxy voice?

Jake and Fergi (we always used to hide under the bed when OurGirl played her oboe. But the piano? That was a different story. Right there next to her, we'd be.)

Isn't music great?

I am Duca's master, and by the way, he is a boy, well, not boy as on December 14 2011 he will be 77 years old. The name Duca, means Duke in Italian, which was my opertic debut role (Rigoletto). The videos on line were made about 4 years ago. today, Duca sings much better, get close to correct pitch (up to A flat) and if someone crack, he protest. By the way, he is the grandson of Gloria Estefan's Dalmatian and duca was born in Tampa, Florida

Thanks for sharing some really amazing videos. Duca, you have such a beautiful voice. It took you a second to get warmed up, but when you were ready it was just fabulous. Have a wonderful rest of your week.
