Super Bowl!

Woo-hoo! I've got my reservation on Aire Ruby and I'm off to Arizona for Gus and Joe's Super Bowl Party!!! Go Pats!

My kind of exercise!

It's still very cold here, and we're supposed to get snow and ice tonight! As you know, I'm not a big fan of the cold, but I did promise my mom to be her pawsonal trainer and run with her as she gets ready for her race.

The good news is that the landlord finally got our apartment complex a new treadmill, and it arrived yesterday. The old one broke last fall and my mom had to keep calling them and asking them to fix it. That means - no freezing cold runs anymore!

In fact, I love this new arrangement. Mom ran four miles while I snacked on a Denta-bone. (Cheering her on the entire time, of course!)

You notice on the left that it says we went 5.54 miles. That total includes the warm-up and cool-down. She's not that fit yet! I will keep up the training. She's improving.

I'm in trouble...

My people left for orchestra rehearsal last night, and when they came back, this is what they found.

My mom had started a jigsaw puzzle last weekend, and was about 2/3 of the way finished.

She did not appreciate my help on her puzzle. I did not appreciate that she sorted her puzzle pieces in food storage containers. I thought it was leftovers.

Running in the cold

It is pretty cold here. And my mom is crazy. Look at how we are dressed to go for a run!!!

She tried to bring me last week, and I had enough after about a half a mile. We tried again with my sweatshirt on - the same. So on Saturday, she decided to put my booties on and bring me. Now, I LOVE to go for runs. But I hate the cold. And I hate those booties. I turned around again after half a mile. I put on the brakes and started tugging my mom home.

My mom is a little bit discouraged because she can't run the entire way without stopping when she runs, but her walking time is getting much smaller.

My nana works for the Nike company, so sometimes she can give my mom nice running stuff to wear. So far, Nike does not make a doggie track suit, but I'm hopeful. Cole-Haan, which is a division of Nike, has started making dog clothes, so I'm sure athletic wear is next. If I have to wear clothes, I at least want to look good! (Nike "Air Booties"?)

Do you see that my nose looks funny? The hair fell off the top end of my nose. It's bald. I've been really good and NOT scratching - paws, nose, anything! - so I'm not really sure why it's doing that. Maybe it's from running in the COLD!

My new toy and other dogs

I can't remember who it was, but one of my friends blogged about their cool toy from Canine Genius, and I immediately knew I needed one too! So my mom ordered one for me. It's the blue thing in the picture that looks like a bowling pin. When you roll it around, TREATS come out! It's amazing.

My mom had to go to the post office to pick it up for me. Unfortunately, there is a big sign that says dogs aren't allowed in the post office. The mailman noticed that it was addressed to "Lenny" and started to give my mom a hard time about it! She explained that I was her dog and that I am in fact a Canine Genius. He let my mom sign on my behalf. He wanted to know what kind of dog I was, and then he wanted to tell my mom all about HIS dog - a Pomeranian. He was quite proud because the dog's photo had been selected for a dog picture calendar (not the Dogs With Blogs calendar).

While my mom was out doing errands, she decided to go to Barnes & Noble. Keeley's mom Erin had posted about this book, and when my mom saw the picture, she had to go find it. It has a fox terrier right on the cover! She was thrilled because our Barnes & Noble also had it, in the bargain aisle.

When my mom brought it up to the register to pay for it, she got all chatty and gushed about how excited she was to get the book, because it looked just like ME on the cover. The cashier asked if I was a fox terrier. It turns out that she has an Airedale! She informed my mom that Airedales look similar to fox terriers...(um, thanks! We knew that.)

It's nice that people are so proud of their dogs, I think.

Thank you!

I'd like to thank Hammer for giving me the "Bloggers of the World" award. It's so cool to have friends in so many different places, like Hammer in Australia. I feel so cosmopawlitan. I want to pass the award on to all of my international friends from Dogs With Blogs.

Up and Running

So, my mom finally decided yesterday that it was time to get out and go running with me, even if it is cold. She made a goal for herself that she will run a half-marathon on May 3rd.

This is quite ambitious for my mom. She is not a "runner." She is not built like a runner. She's built more for Scrabble.

However, I am her devoted training partner, and I'm going to whip her into shape! We need to build up her endurance because the longest distance she has ever run is a little over 4 miles. And we need to speed her up because she is a SLOW POKE! Soon she should have a sleek physique like my own (see picture).

So on the left is our widget that shows how far we've run together, and how far our last workout was. Goal: 13.1 miles (21 km), no walking, May 3rd! My friend Simba's mom ran a half marathon and made a blog about it, which is very interesting and helpful for my mom!

I love running. My favorite part is getting as far away as possible from the nearest garbage can, and taking a dump. Then my mom has to carry around the poopie bag while we run. I have mapped out our routes and strategically figured out the best locations for this.

Dunkin' Donuts

Hello friends!

My mom is a very happy woman, because I am a good detective. Let me tell you why.

It all started because Jackson asked what a Dunkin' Donuts Munchkin was, so I wanted to find a picture to share the yummy goodness with my friends. Munchkins are the holes out of the middle of the donut! They come in different flavors, but usually they give me a glazed one going through the drive-thru. They are about 2" or 5 cm in diameter.

My mom loves Coffee Coolattas, which are kind of similar to Frappucinos, I'm told. I wouldn't know because she HOGS hers and doesn't share. Looking for a picture of a Coolatta, I was exploring dunkindonuts.com and noticed a "Store Finder" feature. My mom has visited this site many times, hoping a local Dunkin' Donuts would magically appear, but it has never happened.

Being a good sleuth, I typed in my zip code, and Voila! Indiana now has a Dunkin' Donuts!

It is almost 40 miles (64 kilometers) away from where I live, but my mom is SOOOO happy!
Archie and Agatha were nice enough to offer to ship my mom some DD coffee from Boston, but now she can get her fix on her own! Thanks though, guys. Archie has dislocated knee caps - ouch! - so I hope all of his foxy nurse friends are taking good care of him. Feel better, Archie!

Around here, there is a Starbucks on every corner, just like in a lot of other places. But in New England, there is a Dunkin' Donuts on every corner. So not only is my mom happy about delicious Coolattas, it is like a little piece of "home" for her.

Aren't I a good dog? I think I really deserve a sip of that Coolatta, if not a giant bone!

Tongue shots

A lot of my buddies have been showing pictures of their tongues on their blogs. Here's a little peek at mine! I'm drooling because we're at the drive-through window at a DUNKIN' DONUTS!!! Sometimes they give you a Munchkin donut there. (Once, a lady had veggie dog treats, which my parents thought was great, but I would have preferred a Munchkin.) My mom looooves Dunkin' Donuts and we don't really have them here in Indiana. If you have one near you, take your humans there! Have a Coffee Coolatta for my mom.

I think I look a little bit like my friend William Tell in that picture. What do you think? Handsome, huh?

And how about some tongue action shots? Here I am with my humans. They are being rewarded with my affection for feeding and caring for me. (My mom said not to use that picture of my dad because his hair looks weird. I guess he needed to go to the groomer.)

I am proud of my dad today because his concert this weekend got a nice review in the newspaper. Not his best review ever, but a nice review nonetheless. The writer said that his orchestra needs to get more violins, and I started thinking...don't I know some violinists? Maybe I can help! Jackson and Mitchboth played the violin expertly at Asta's St. Nicholas Party. What do you think guys? The commute might be a little long, and I can't promise you any big solos, but maybe someday you can stop by and help out the orchestra!

Aw, shucks.

Well, not to brag or anything, but I have received a few honors recently. Unfortunately, a Golden Globe for my ballet movie was not one of them, but maybe my acting/dancing career will take off next year.

I did receive a Caption Game award from Balboa! I won July 19 & December 15. I love his caption game every Thursday - it's a lot of fun! Thanks Balboa!

My friends Charlie and Agatha & Archie were also nice enough to award me the "You Make My Day" award. This award is presented to bloggers whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel happy about Blogland.

Thanks guys! You make my day too. The rules are that I am supposed to now award this to ten bloggers who make my day. I'm going to break the rules a little bit. I want to award it to a blogger from the New York Times who wrote about the healing power of dogs today.

Archie's leg is a little under the weather, so hopefully Agatha and his other foxy nurses can help him with that healing power. Feel better soon, Archie! You'll be up and running in no time!

UPDATE: I have just learned that I have been honored again! I am so flattered! Thank you, Gus, for the Best Friends Award. Thank you for being MY friend!

Reporting for duty!

In 2008, let's BRING BEAU HOME!

My new Australian buddy, Hammer, has been missing his brother Beau for a long time, and the Dogs With Blogs are teaming up for Operation Bring Beau Home! See his website here to see how you can help!

Supreme Commander Stormy, this is Lenny, reporting for duty!

Dogs everywhere

My humans got to go to New Hampshire and Boston over the holidays, while I went to doggie camp.

While they were there, they saw my human nana, grandpa, auntie, and auntie's fiance (he'll be my new uncle in June) and my doggie Uncle Walter. Walter's been featured on my blog before in his dashing attire. The holidays were another good reason to dress up, and he had a very handsome Christmas sweater.

Please keep your paws crossed for my Uncle Walter - he's had seizures and they seem to be getting better, but he still has small ones. He had one while my humans were visiting.

My nana and mom like to go shopping together. My mom likes to do jigsaw puzzles (and I like to eat the pieces) and she was very excited because she found a puzzle with an Airedale terrier in the picture! Maybe some day she'll find one with a WFT also.

My humans are going back to New England in June when my auntie gets married, and I think I get to go this time. It will be a long car ride, but I'm excited!

Too bad for the Buckeyes

Well, my team lost last night. The good news is that there were lots of fun people at my house who kept giving me treats. Here is a picture of my crazy hoomans (on the right) and some of their Buckeye friends. They're spelling O-H-I-O. Notice all the people food is at my snout-level. I only swiped two chips before anyone noticed.

My mom is all excited because the people in New Hampshire get to vote today. That's where she grew up, and while I was at camp, she and my dad went there to visit and to volunteer for their favorite presidential candidate. She is hoping her candidate does better tonight than the Buckeyes did yesterday! Me too...it could mean more treats!

Pee Ess...I won't let my mom talk about politics on my blog, but if you want to read her blog, it's HERE. I'm neutral! (That's what happens when you get neutered!)

Catching up on my reading

I still haven't had a chance to catch up on everyone's news, and I feel very behind! My humans got me a new computer to blog on for Christmas! However, they are all excited about it and hogging it right now. We got an iMac. The screen is nice and big so I can read it, even without my glasses on.

I got many more Christmas cards but my mom finally took them down yesterday, which made me a little sad. But it was great to get to know so many doggies from DWB through the exchange.

Tonight is the big college football National Championship between my favorite team, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Louisiana State Tigers. Go Bucks! I hope my fellow Big Ten fan pups will cheer along with me! (Scruffy and Lacie?) Lots of touchdowns means lots of treats.

Happy New Year!

Hello everyone! I am back home from camp and pretty exhausted. When I arrived home yesterday, I didn't want to play or anything - I just went straight to bed!

Yesterday was my fourth Adoption Day anniversary! I've lived with my humans since January 2nd, 2004.

I didn't get any presents at camp, but when I got home, my nana and auntie had sent presents for me. My nana sent a big dog-bone shaped tin full of Milkbones, and my aunt Annie sent the cool Santa dog in the picture. And my mom got the fish with the big lips for me too.

Camp also sent me home with a report card...As you can see, my behavior was excellent. My people were surprised, though, because my report card said I was "shy," which is not really like me. They might have just mis-interpreted my "aloofness."

This was not my usual camp where I board, but they did take good care of me. It was over an hour away in the car, though! I'll be going back to my local place, Bark'n Buddies, next time (if they have room for me!).

I haven't had time to catch up on everyone's adventures, so I am looking forward to doing that! I hope you all enjoyed your holidays, spent some fun time with your families, and got some great treats! Happy new year!
