Just 36 hours ago, when a tropical storm was sloshing through South Florida, our very own Jake found a new niche for himself as an amateur weatherdog. To quote this enterprising wire-haired fox terrier, "We don't want to take anyone's job in these difficult economic times -- but, looking at the most recent weather map, we don't see any signs of the heavy rain and winds predicted for the next 24 hours here." Turns out he was right!!
In honor of Jake's outstanding service to the meteorological world, I want to send him a big "At Work" Pawlimpics shout-out. While his new-found career came after the deadline for submitting entries to the contest, we simply can't let his talents go unrecognized. We all now know who to turn to in the face of threatening weather and those scary thunderstorms!

Lenny,
Thank you so much for recognizing my brother. He's sometimes a real pain in the you know what to live with because he is so serious. But all that study and research paid off this time.
Your pal, and often underappreciated,

Jake totally ROCKS, this is a great medal. We are mostly glad his prediction was true and nobody got hurt by that storm.
Yeah, this time of year the weather man (or dog)must be very popular in Florida! I have some Bedly friends there so I hope they are fine.
Great job you guys!

Excellent work Jake!
Wet weather update: we were very lucky here in South Florida with Fay -- but as forecasted, she moved north, got stuck in one position, and has dramatically flooded a huge area on the Central Florida coast. And she's still expected to turn back west, affecting northern Florida and southern Georgia.
That's the problem with these storms -- one wishes they would go somewhere else, but then, when they do, others get whacked, which makes us sad.
