Running in the cold

It is pretty cold here. And my mom is crazy. Look at how we are dressed to go for a run!!!

She tried to bring me last week, and I had enough after about a half a mile. We tried again with my sweatshirt on - the same. So on Saturday, she decided to put my booties on and bring me. Now, I LOVE to go for runs. But I hate the cold. And I hate those booties. I turned around again after half a mile. I put on the brakes and started tugging my mom home.

My mom is a little bit discouraged because she can't run the entire way without stopping when she runs, but her walking time is getting much smaller.

My nana works for the Nike company, so sometimes she can give my mom nice running stuff to wear. So far, Nike does not make a doggie track suit, but I'm hopeful. Cole-Haan, which is a division of Nike, has started making dog clothes, so I'm sure athletic wear is next. If I have to wear clothes, I at least want to look good! (Nike "Air Booties"?)

Do you see that my nose looks funny? The hair fell off the top end of my nose. It's bald. I've been really good and NOT scratching - paws, nose, anything! - so I'm not really sure why it's doing that. Maybe it's from running in the COLD!

Poor Lenny! Those booties look very cute, but are they comfortable? I'm sure I'd pull them off in about 30 seconds. I wonder what's wrong with your nose? Don't worry, though. You still look handsome!

Hey Lenny: We hope you score some of those ColeHaan clothes real soon. Then I can borrow them, huh? You are a good dog to run with your mom. I think I would stay home and snuggle with Dad!

Lenny I hate booties too. Mom tried to put them on me this morning b/c we had snow but I just did my 'bidness' in the front yard and wanted to get back inside!!!

You and your mom sure do look super duper cute though :)

The blue boots looks cute on you. I never tried to wear boots.
The weather is kind of nice here in VA...that remind me to bark at my master so I can go for a walk.

I'm not sure about the boots. You could wear them indoors and polish the floors.

You're a good sport to run with your mom, Lenny! We'd run with our dad too if he ran, but he doesn't, he just walks! Your nose fur froze and fell out? We've never heard of that happening before!

Love ya lots

Hi, Lenny!
I am not so sure about those booties! I guess I would not be able to wear them!
Good job supporting your mom!

It's way too cold to run outside...go home and snuggle up where it is warm!! That totally must be why your nose is being funny now!

Lots of Licks, Ruby

Must be really cold there. Must be hard to run wearing booties. Maybe you need something to keep your nose cozy.

Stay warm

You do look very cute in your booties. I wouldn't mind trading places with you at the moment, it's a bit hot here.

Lenny,

You are a better dog than I am. I would have chewed them off in about ten seconds. I hate wearing anything but a bandana. I say you wait till Nike has a Lenny friendly dog line. Maybe you could be their doggie model. Hopefully it will warm up soon so you can enjoy a nice long run again. Till then stay home and snuggle in so you are nice and warm!

Your pal,
Kirby

We thought boots were supposed to keep your toes from getting cold and turning blue!

Tell your mom to keep up the good work with her training. We are sure she will get there.

Hi Lenny
You look very cute in those booties 'cept I think the Nike ones will be better. Hope the hair grows back on your nose soon.

I like neither cold nor running so you're way ahead of me there, buddy.

Sometimes in the summer I lose some of the hair on my nose. Dunno why. Maybe we handsome dudes have to ugly ourselves up every once in awhile to give the average dudes a chance?

Oh Lenny! The indignity of wearing turquoise booties!! No wonder you turned back!! God forbid a cute pooch see you that way!

HM likes your mom's running stuff! She uses Nike and Under Armour gear to run in. (also Lululemon makes great running tights).

I hope it warms up soon! We went for a quickie jog on Monday...but it was drizzly...I HATE the rain!

Simba

I am going to point your post out to my mother about those booties. She often thinks of getting them for Katie and me, since we like to run around outside when it is cold. Zorra, the big baby, gets to stay inside when it is cold. I don't mind, as long as I have my jacket on. I just don't enjoy the ice getting in my pads. I think I would NOT like booties.

The hair fell off the end of my nose once, thanks to a barn cat (may she rest in peace).

No, no! I didn't do anything to the cat! She was very old and cranky and gave me a swat on the snooper for nuzzling her whilst she was snoozing. I learned a good lesson that day, now I don't prod the bear.

Lenny,
You're so lucky to have a mom that runs. I keep trying to get my girl to run but she always complains that I'm trying to kill her when I stop at random to sniff something. I think she should just pay more attention to where I'm going.
Do you have to wear the booties because your paws ice up? I was wondering because I'm only okay out in the snow for about 30-40 minutes and then my paws freeze and it freaks my girl out. And with this bad winter, my paws were getting all cracked and dry. My holistic vet recommended this stuff called Musher's Secret. It's protects my feet against icing up and from salt too. At first I thought that my girl had just been tricked into buying expensive vaseline, but I tried it and it actually works!
